Today, Neyshabur is a tranquil city in Iran with a rich history of culture and beauty. One wouldn't know it has a famous past. International scholars and purveyors of Islamic art, especially ceramics, were the cause of the city being ransacked for decades.
The year is 1935. Picture archeologists excavating on behalf of The Metropolitan Museum of Art and uncovering this piece in the center of Neyshabur and how exciting it would be to find it intact, made by hand centuries ago.
